Packet Sniffer
X-NetStat comes with packet sniffing abilities, so you can see how much data is being used by each connection.
X-NetStat has a built in "Internal" sniffer, and can also use the popular NPcap sniffer for Windows.
To configure how it is used, go into Packet Sniffer options under Options.
To start Sniffing, click the Sniffer button on the toolbar.
Sniffer Session tab
When sniffing, the Sniffer Session tab is automatically selected in the sidebar.
It contains vital stats on how the Sniffer is operating. Make sure the IP address matches the IP of your network interface!
If you have any trouble, be sure to copy/paste the Sniffer Session info in an email to Fresh Software for troubleshooting.
Sniffer Notes
The Internal Sniffer can only be used when X-NetStat is run as an administrator. Furthermore, there needs to be a rule in the Windows Firewall that allows incoming traffic to X-NetStat, otherwise the internal sniffer cannot see incoming packets, and will only display outgoing information. If no such rule exists, X-NetStat will prompt you to automatically create one.
The NPcap sniffer is recommended for general use, but NPcap must be installed. This can be done from the Auto-Updater.
